Taylor Apologetic and Relieved
Wednesday, 26th Jun 2013 10:05

Striker Paul Taylor says he’s relieved now his court case is over and is keen to get out on the pitch playing again after his lengthy absence due to a foot injury. The 25-year-old, who was yesterday handed a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm, has apologised to the club, who have disciplined him and spoken to him regarding his future conduct.

Taylor told the club website: “It’s obviously been a worrying time, with the court case and I’m just relieved it’s all over.

“With my injury coming just a few weeks after I joined Ipswich, it was a really frustrating time for me.

“I made a mistake and I have apologised to the club. With the court case and my injury, it’s been a difficult six months or so but now I can move on.”

The former Peterborough man, who suffered the injury in only his third game after last August's £1.5 million move from Posh, is training with the rest of the Blues squad this week having continued his rehab through the summer.

“I’ve been working hard with the physio team and I’m just looking forward now to getting out on the pitch and playing some football again,” he added.

Joint-managing director Jonathan Symonds says Town have disciplined Taylor and that he has been talked to regarding his future behaviour: “Paul has been made aware of his responsibilities.

“He has apologised and has volunteered to take part in some community activities on behalf of the club.”

He has apologised and its good he has attended his community work with the right attitude , BUT, its his THIRD conviction and his mate's SEVENTEENTH !! . If he genuinely is trying to get away from his "scally" past then this has to be his last chance. Im dubious to be honest but hope he proves me wrong and goes on to become a great player on and off the pitch for us.

He's a great Striker and going forward provides some very useful crosses, if he puts the past behind him and concentrates on helping Ipswich to win the Championship title this season, then he will have made a terrific impact on Ipswich's fortunes and indeed his own career, I wish him the very best of luck.

Bugleboy is absolutely right doormen and bouncers seem to very often to be violent thugs themselves.
i have met some nice ones over the years but I rekon its a 50-50 ratio between nice blokes doing there jobs and thugs in the job to cause trouble knowing they will always be believed as the other person was drunk.
What happened to taylor could easily happen to alot of people after a few pints
he has said sorry we move on and support the player who in my mind is amoung the best we currently have

What he did was unacceptable and after 3 previous convictions he should count himself very lucky he avoided jail and it also gives me the impression that he doesn't learn from mistakes easily. He is going to be paid well to do a job for town and I will be happy if he does it to the best of his abilities but in no way will that atone for what he has done. I find it perplexing that people are so forgiving of this but not of the misdemeanours of Chopra, while I am aware that there is no such thing as a victimless crime, physical assault is far worse in my opinion than fixing horse races and suffering illness of addiction. Also if those who are expressing forgiveness for Taylor are the same that raised hell at the signing of Lee Bowyer after his historic crimes then please expend me some for thinking you hypocritical.

Plus if the bouncer is anything like what i've know them to be then i'm sure he's not so innocent in the situation.

That's a good one Bugleboy... Someone who says something that you don't agree with must go up the road and support the budgies! A very well thought out and mature arguement mate! I think it's about time you grew up.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do, what games he did play last season he seemed to play ok.

Like a new signing and Taylor knows he owes ITFC for not kicking him out.
We all make mistakes so lets give the guy some slack.
I'm expecting a great season from Taylor and am already getting excited about our promotion prospects with him in the team.

No one who is a true ITFC fan wanted to see him jailed, me included. However, I seem to think that if one of us did the same, we would have done some time. He is a lucky boy, now he needs to keep his head down and show us all why Baz Fry was raving about him & why we paid £1.5M to sign him.

One wasted season already & another player who has brought unwanted negative press to ITFC & PR. Time to grow up & step up, Mr Taylor.

Or join the ranks of Town flops, Mark Fish, Ulrich Le Pen, Stern John, Nigel Reo-Coker, Finidi George, Matteo Sereni, Lucciano Civcelli, VelicesSmulikoski et al. Phil, maybe you could run a poll to find the biggest ever Town flops since 2000 & publish a list on here? It would be interesting to have fans opinions on who is in the top 10.

Warkys Tash

Have to add Amir Karic - the great left foot - to that list

If you look at 'vALUE FOR MONEY' or return on investment then you should probably add Lee Martin - Cost alot and never really delivered

We have had so many loan players - cant remember too many bigger signings

JVM - you are of course entitled to your opinion and I respect it. I also agree that you do have a point to a certain extent and if the crime had been of a more severe nature I might have stood by you but in a football league where you have players beating their wives, alleged rape, drink driving, taking banned substances I think its a little harsh to sack a lad who had a scrap with a doorman and has been punished. As many have said, you'll have to go a long way to find a totally innocent doorman. I do think however that Taylor would do well to part ways with his "mate" who seems to be trouble.
