![]() Friday, 14th Dec 2001 17:21 Former Town skipper Mick Mills has left Birmingham City after new manager Steve Bruce took over the reins at St Andrews. The ex-Blues number three was offered a position below the assistant manager's post he held under previous boss Trevor Francis but decided not to take it. Since Francis's sacking Mills has been caretaker-manager along with goalkeeping coach Jim Barron. Mills said: "I was disappointed that I was not part of the new management team and I think a mistake has been made. That is my opinion, but I still respect the view of Steve Bruce that he wanted to work with his own people." Long-term Town skipper Mills has settled a compensation package with the Midlanders. It is likely that there will be speculation that Mills may rejoin Francis at his new club Crystal Palace.
