Sunday, 25th Aug 2013 17:14

Three Leeds fans were injured in a suspected hit and run incident shortly after Town’s 2-1 home defeat to the Whites on Saturday evening. Police made an arrest soon after the incident.

A police statement reads: “Three men were injured and one man arrested following a road traffic collision in Ipswich yesterday, Saturday 24th August.

“The three men were struck by a vehicle as they walked along Princes Street at around 5pm. They were able to walk away from the scene but a short time later were taken to Ipswich Hospital by the ambulance service.

“One of the men received a serious head injury, a second received a serious back injury and the third received minor bruising.

“Officers later witnessed the vehicle that was believed to have been involved in the incident in London Road. The vehicle was pursued and a 17-year-old boy was arrested nearby in Prospect Road.

“The boy, who is from London, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop following a collision.

“He was taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre but has since been released on police bail. He is now due to return on October 28th.”

At least one of the supporters was spotted wearing Leeds colours and all three are understood to have been visiting fans.
