Chambo: Duo Have Improved Since Forest Days
Saturday, 12th Oct 2013 06:00

Luke Chambers has praised Town team-mates David McGoldrick and Paul Anderson after the trio teamed up again for a second time.

All three appeared together for Nottingham Forest and Chambers believes both ex-colleagues have improved during the time they have been apart.

Chambers said: “David is incredible at the minute. He has been absolutely fantastic since he’s walked through the door here.

“He’s playing with confidence, he’s playing for a team that truly appreciates him being here and he knows the manager is backing him 100 per cent. He feels very confident and very settled here.”

Chambers’s close-up view of McGoldrick on the training ground has bolstered his belief that the striker has all the attributes to step up in standard.

He added: “People only see a certain amount of David’s game but we have to deal with it every day. It is making me a better player facing him in training because he gives me a few awkward moments, although I give him some back

“With his attitude and ability I believe he can go to the next level. His all-round play for the team is terrific. He is covering a lot of distance with his running and the way he drops back into midfield.

“Maybe he should knock that on the head a little bit and he might have a bit more energy to stick the ball in the net. We’re all delighted that we have him here and we regard ourselves as lucky that we do.”

Chambers turned his attention to winger Anderson, who started out at Hull and had a spell at Liverpool before making his way to the East Midlands.

He added: “When Ando was younger he was a lot more direct and I think he relied on his pace a lot more. His game’s come on, especially since he left Forest.

“He had a difficult time at Bristol City last season but he’s been a much, much better player since he’s arrived here. He’s another attribute to the club that we’re delighted to have.”

Meanwhile, Elliott Hewitt was an unused sub as the Wales U21s beat Lithuania 2-0 in Bangor yesterday. The Lithuanians are at Portman Road facing England on Tuesday.

I did not bother to listen to Keano talking about Townsend last night, could not stand the rubbish. Never did understand why he sent him back so early he looked pretty exciting the little we saw of him
