Marcus Stewart says his jaw was given the best test possible during the game with Dagenham and Redbridge yesterday. Meanwhile George Burley says the players left out or injured will have to fight for their places.

Stewart said: "If there was ever a game to come back and test my jaw, it was yesterday. I got it whacked three times in the first 10 minutes, so now I know it's fine. I had a chance before the goal, but didn't catch it well and scuffed the shot. I had a feeling I might get another chance, and luckily I did and put it away. It was very difficult for Marcus [Bent] and I to try and get used to each other. It wasn't the type of game in which you could get the ball down and pass it. But now we've got a lot of training and games in front if us and I'm sure we'll gel quite easily."

The Town boss welcomed Stewart's return as well as praising a number of the players who came into the side at Victoria Road: "We had players come in and show they want to stay in the team. That's what you need. Andy Marshall, Wayne Brown and Titus Bramble looked very solid at the back, while Sixto Peralta scored two goals."
