Scholar Smith Wins Cap
Sunday, 17th Nov 2013 10:13

Academy first-year scholar Jonny Smith came on as a 51st minute substitute as Northern Ireland’s U17s beat Luxembourg 3-1 in Belfast last night.

The game was the Northern Irish youngsters’ second of the European Championships mini-tournament they are hosting, striker Smith having come on as a half-time sub in their 1-0 defeat to Latvia in their opening match on Thursday.

They complete their games when they take on table-toppers Turkey in Dungannon on Tuesday.

Northern Ireland, who are currently third in the group, probably need to win with the top two and third-placed sides with the best records against their group winners going through to the next round of qualifying.

Looks as though we have had the wool pulled over our eyes as far as fair play rules. An article in the Mail on Sunday explains that if QPR as expected lose 70 Millone it will cost them in fines £1 for every £ over 18 million. Surely that must apply to all championship clubs therefore there is no liklyhood of itfc getting a fine so we could have invested more.
