Milts Says Thanks
Tuesday, 10th Jun 2014 15:43

Academy sponsorship manager Simon Milton has thanked all those who made donations or helped out with last weekend’s London to Amsterdam charity cycle ride. Milton and striker and coach Alan Lee were part of an 18-strong Team ITFC contingent raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK and the Academy Association.

“It couldn’t have gone better and the whole event was so well organised,” Milton told the club site.

“We received so much help from so many people, including Elmy Cycles, who kitted us all out with our bikes, and Global Selfdrive for helping us get the bikes down to London.

“From there we rode from Orient’s ground, through London and on to Colchester United’s stadium before eventually arriving in Harwich.

“From there we set upon riding across to the Ajax Arena in Amsterdam before enjoying a meal and a night out together as a team.

“There was great camaraderie throughout the group and it was such a great achievement to all do this together.

“I think it showed how much of a team we were by the wild round of applause we gave to James when he crossed the line, the final member of Team ITFC to complete the challenge, and what a feeling it was to do this all together.

“Again, I want to say thank you to everybody who sponsored us and, if you are still feeling generous, then donations can be made via the Academy Association website.

“I’m now ready to put my feet up for a while, before the football season comes back round again!”

Team ITFC raised £20,000 for Prostate Cancer UK, the Football League’s official charity, who organised the event, and £10,000 for the Academy Association, helping it to hit the £200,000 mark targeted for the 2013/14 season.

Meanwhile, Town should learn whether the Academy has attained Category One status in the next few days, having undergone an independent audit in April.
