Bournemouth Game Switch Confirmed
Wednesday, 2nd Jul 2014 15:15

Town have confirmed that the home game against AFC Bournemouth has moved from Saturday 4th April to the previous day, Good Friday, still kicking off at 3pm.

As previously reported, the Blues are keen to avoid playing two games in three days, as they did at Easter during 2013/14.

Charlton have confirmed that their visit to Portman Road has moved from Sunday 28th December to Tuesday 30th December (KO 7.45pm) for the same reason.

That switch means Town now have an unusually high seven evening Championship home games this season, eight including the Fulham match on the opening Saturday, which kicks-off at 5.15pm for Sky coverage, in addition to a further four away from Portman Road.

I can certainly see the sense of this one. Looks like we are planning to operate with a very small squad again this year, so having distance between the Easter games is probably sensible. Saying that, less keen on a evening kick off during the Christmas period! At least this one is a 3 PM.

Would have made no sense moving the KO time from anything other than 3pm given the away fans journey! So as long as that stays the same then this makes sense for all.

Ipswich Witches won't be happy. Good Friday afternoon is normally one of their bigger gates of the season, and usually first part of a double-header with one of the local rivals. Guess they could swap and have the home meeting in the evening, there are quite a few that would head down to Foxhall from Portman Road...
