Collison Targeting First-Team Place
Friday, 26th Sep 2014 16:05

New signing Jack Collison is targeting winning and keeping a place in the Town first team between now and the end of his short-term deal. The 25-year-old put pen to paper on his contract earlier today.

“There is a good squad here and a lot of competition for places so I know it will be no easy task to get in the side,” the former West Ham man told Ipswich Player.

“It’s down to me to get my head down and work hard and impress the manager enough for him to give me a chance in the team. Then I’ve got to take that chance.

“In the short space of time I’ve been here I have enjoyed working with the players and the manager. There is a good feel about the place and everyone knows what a great club Ipswich is.

“I’m here until the end of December and we will see what happens after that. All I am focused on at the moment is getting back to playing football again, enjoying my football again and getting in the team.”

i think a 4-3-3 would be the right formation to play, worked well against wigan, but would like to see the use of wingers when steward is back well ready

The hair's right but the beard isn't quite long enough to be a serious contender for a first-team place yet...

Potentially exactly what we need, when I saw the free market, I thought of collision, don't think people should keep hanging their hopes on Johnny Williams, obviously a great player but not ours and never will be

He won't be here longer than his short term deal allows.

The interview definitely sounds like he is using us as a stepping stone to go on to bigger and better things. Of course I am not saying that is a bad thing - players putting themselves in the shop window have great motivation.
