![]() Tuesday, 5th Feb 2002 10:14 George Burley has denied that he is refusing to move Town's match at Leeds in order to take advantage of Leeds' tiredness after their match with Everton a few days beforehand. Yesterday it was suggested by a newspaper that this was the case, however Burley has been quick to give his side of the story. The Town boss said: "We are due to play Blackburn Rovers in a rearranged match at Ewood Park on Wednesday, March 13th and then visit Newcastle United on the following Saturday. If we had agreed to switch the Leeds date to March 9th we would have had three long trips in seven days which is far from ideal planning. We are due at Elland Road on Wednesday, March 6th. This means we have three tough away games in ten days. This is considerably better than seven days so far as travel and preparation are concerned. To read the suggestion that I had refused the request from Leeds because I was trying to take advantage of any tiredness in the Leeds side because of their match at Everton the previous Sunday is utter nonsense."
