Town Confirm Hunt Deal
Thursday, 8th Jan 2015 14:05

Town have confirmed that Noel Hunt has rejoined the Blues on a deal until the end of the season, as revealed by TWTD yesterday.

Hunt, the younger brother of Town winger Stephen, initially joined the Blues on loan at the end of November, scoring the late, late winner after coming on as a sub in the 1-0 victory at Charlton.

The 32-year-old Irishman made a further three appearances from the bench before his spell came to an end prior to Sunday’s FA Cup tie at Southampton.

Hunt’s Leeds contract, which was due to run to the summer, was terminated by mutual consent yesterday.

Just in time for our next Sky game! A last minute winner would do nicely, Noel.

To quote Alan Partridge: "Back of the net!" (in both senses of the word)

Good signing - we need strength in depth and that's what he adds!

Great piece of business - glad it's a short term free agent deal, not a loan - don't want to be losing players for crucial games !

Earn another year ... or two... !

A good option up front if he can rediscover his Reading form. The Charlton away game certainly gave us all hope this is possible. However, I would still like Chris Wood on loan from Leicester as back up, as he offers a physical presence like Sammon, but only far more of a goal threat if anything happened to Murph or Didz. Mates with Smith and Leicester have signed another striker so very possible. My last wish to complete our squad would be Williams back on loan. It wouldn't necessarily hinder the development of Bishop either as I would quite like to see Joniesta on the left of a three (alongside Didz and Murph) cutting in onto his right with his pace, dribbling, ability to pick a pass/cross and shoot from distance.

Great news! A good addition, no fee, he wants to be here.

Happy Days!

Will always love him purely for that Charlton goal. Imagine another 95th minute winner at Blackburn on May 2nd to send us to the Premier League. I'll keep dreaming!

danlyles. I agree that chris wood would be a great signing, but the fact is there's no chance that hes gonna swap the bench at premier league Leicester for the bench at a championship club. if he was gonna start games maybe he would but that's not gonna happen with murphy and mcgoldrick in the team, is it? would love to be wrong but that's how I see it.

@Blues1: Maybe Wood could play as the 3rd forward, alongside Murphy & McGoldrick when Mick sets up as a 4-3-3 though? He'd be a better option than Sammon & Bajner and as it's unlikely that Williams will be coming back, it is a position that's still up for grabs, with Stephen Hunt & Anderson having played there since Sammon dropped back to the bench.
Obviously Noel Hunt could be considered there now also, but I see him more as a predetor type striker to bring on from the bench and nick a goal for us, like he did at Charlton, rather than a starter in that formation.

A good signing on a free, but more a winger than a striker. We still need back up for Murphy and McGoldrick. Sammon nowhere near good enough. Hunt not an out and out striker these days.

A very good squad signing. We know him and he knows us. He's motivated and the price is right.
Welcome back Noel.

blue1. Wood is effectively 5th choice striker behind Ulloa, Croatian signing, Vardy and Nugent, where as he could either play as part of a 3 with Didz or Murphy or even play his way into the front two. Murph has been great, Didz working his way back to form, but they are not set in stone, that's not Mick's way, and they could get injured. He has virtually no chance of playing more than a few appearances in a club likely to be relegated or he could have a very good chance of playing many games in a promotion campaign.
