Sammon Linked With Huddersfield Loan
Tuesday, 13th Jan 2015 15:27

Blues loan striker Conor Sammon is being linked with another loan move to Huddersfield Town for the second half of the season.

According to the Irish Evening Herald the 28-year-old Derby frontman is interesting Terriers manager Chris Powell, who is keen to add to his strike force.

Sammon joined the Blues on a season-long loan in August but such spells include the provision for a recall within an open transfer window, so Sammon can go back to the Rams and then on to Huddersfield this month.

The former UCD, Kilmarnock and Wigan striker, who has another 18 months remaining on his Derby contract, has scored one goal in eight starts and 12 sub appearances for the Blues."

Sammon moving on prematurely would mean Town boss Mick McCarthy would need to add another striker to his squad.

Let him go!! very poor player as bad as Nouble in my opinion, there must be lots of far better options out there and I am sure the club will be lining something up.

Sad to see so much negativity around Sammon. There are some genuine football fans on here that can appreciate what Sammon gives to the team. He isn't a goal scorer but he,s good in the air keeps possession and works very hard for the team. Compare him to Anderson ...you can,t. For me we need an urgent replacement if he should leave plus three midfielders with pace. Two have to be wide players as we have no width. I'm sure Mm has irons in the fire. COYB

Would give Balint Bajner opportunity which he really hasn't had
Still feel that someone like Jonny Williams is what is needed,if not the man himself.
With the relaxation of FFP rules coming along and only token sanctions so far, surely ME could pay a substantial sum to actually allow Mick to purchase a decent player, with perhaps the loan market supplying another AS THIS WOULD BE THE BEST OPPORTUNITY ME HAS HAD BY FAR TO GET TO PL AND RECOUP HIS INVESTMENT IN IPSWICH TOWN

PortmanTerrorist - based on the dialogue (for a more polite word) I've had with a number of Derby fans since the game, they seem to think they're a million miles better than us as it is so no need to recall Sammon.

The way they're talking, you'd never think they couldn't beat us at home/ needed 12 men and a freak goal to beat us away.

sammon has always given 100% whever he has played and has done a decent job. the only issue with him has of course been the lack of goals. while I wouldn't exactly be gutted if he left, theres a question id like to ask. why does ne1 think mm would have some1 lined up to replace him when it wouldn't be our decision for him to go? therefore we wouldn't have been looking. expecting him to be here for the rest of the season. which could leave us with bajner and hunt as the only back up.would just have to hope that we could find some1 to come in .

He's hardly what I'd call back up for Murphy and Didz
As mentioned before, I'd rather see someone else lined up please

........ BENT could already have been here - absolute fact - and should have been, instead of where he is.

Now that would have been decent cover.

........ linking up with Ambrose .......... tasty thought, as cover and back up option, would have seen an interesting and confidence building second half to the season. Potential poetry in motion again those two.

Always put a shift in, probably best game at Wigan. If player merry go round starts, certain Mick will not disappoint. See no reason to doubt this, his track record for attracting decent players is proven. the lame excuse of no player wants to come the 'outback' has since been rubbished.

Personally think we need to add another striker regardless of whether Sammon stays or goes. Neither he or Bajner are good enough. Sammon has scored just one goal! And that deflected off the keeper on onto him! Work rate is good, but we need a back up who can score goals.

MM would not be letting Sammon go if the replacement wasn't already lined up, and as its Huddersfield he's going to, how about we are buying Naki Wells? We went there once before for the star striker, he would be the back-up we need. I'm getting a fiver on with Corals now!

Great news, Kevin Doyle fits MM's bill nicely, ex Wolves and ex Reading. We could also get Southampton to leave Shane Long!!! Where is Billy Sharp now?

We can't afford to pay Bent the money he is on just to warm the bench.
Good luck for tomorrow night lads.
