![]() Friday, 27th Mar 2015 09:57 A programme from the one and only time that Sir Alf Ramsey played at Portman Road fetched £105 at an auction at Lockdales in Martlesham over the weekend. Future Town and England boss Ramsey was right-back for Tottenham in Suffolk on May 5th 1952 for Hospital Cup action. First Division high-flyers Spurs went into a 2-0 lead, but Third Division South Town came back to level as Sammy McCrory converted twice. The figure the programme fetched was well in excess of the catalogue guide price of £40 to £45. Lockdales auction manager James Sadler said: “The Ramsey aspect made this an extra special programme amongst Ipswich collectors, as the sale figure emphasises.” He went on: “The football programme market in general is very buoyant and there were many, many other eye-opening sales at the auction.”
