Town are being linked with Dutch U21 international striker Dirk Kuyt. The 21-year-old currently plays for FC Utrecht and is also said to have been watched by a number of other Premiership clubs.

Kuyt signed for Utrecht from amateur team Quick Boys and has played senior football for the last four seasons. This year he has scored just five goals, however, last season he netted a more impressive 13.

The Leiden-born striker was part of the Dutch squad in the 2000 European U21 Championships and is contracted at Utrecht until 2004.

Aston Villa, West Ham and Newcastle are also said to be interested.
