Fraser Fit for Preston Trip But Murphy and Parr Doubts
Thursday, 20th Aug 2015 14:28

Winger Ryan Fraser will be fit for Saturday’s game at Preston but Daryl Murphy and Jonny Parr are both doubts.

Fraser was subbed in the first half of Town’s 2-0 victory over Burnley on Tuesday with a jarred knee, but manager Mick McCarthy says he’s fine.

“He’s all right, he’s confirmed he’ll be fine for Saturday,” the Blues boss said. “He hasn’t trained, he’s had treatment yesterday and today but that’s with a view to being OK for Saturday.”

Striker Daryl Murphy went off at half-time against the Clarets and McCarthy says he’s more of a concern: “He hasn’t trained he’s got a tight calf and we’ll have to assess him tomorrow. Hopefully he’ll be OK but there’s more of a doubt about him than there is Ryan.”

Full-back or midfielder Jonny Parr played for the U21s against Coventry on Monday, scoring in the 3-0 win, but has subsequently complained of a problem with the thigh which troubled him throughout pre-season.

“Jonny Parr came through that fine but this morning he’s just felt his thigh again,” McCarthy added. “Whether that’s just fatigue after the game or not, I don't know.

“We’ll have to look at it in the morning because he did play and it might just be the aftermath of playing that he’s feeling. Hopefully that’s the case.”

Kevin Bru and Teddy Bishop remain sidelined with hamstring injuries, while Luke Hyam is a longer-term absentee having undergone knee surgery over the summer.

Hmmm 'a tight calf'. What's going on down at the farm?

Great news about Fraser - he is the one player we cannot replace. We missed his industry, pace, skill, pinpoint accurate crosses when he was subbed. Pittman can certainly do the target man job that Murph provides. He is strong, excellent in the air & clever.

We don't want Daryl out injured for any length of time but have the squad to rest him if needed.

@Tr11BLU: Clown.

I felt Murphy was very impressive for the first 35 mins on Tuesday night.why is it that just because people aren't scoring some people think they are playing badly.it so annoys me

On the subject of Murphy I agree with those who think he looks tired but equally he works hard for the cause and if fit should start. He is a hero after last seasons exploits and deserves some credit and patience.
I'm pleased Frazer is okay. With two wingers we look likely to do some serious damage to the opposition this year.
Regarding @TR11BLU I shall ignore him and his kind however I think it's about time @TWTD monitored these idiots more closely and block them. While I accept football is about opinions this is a site for Ipswich Town FC supporters not jerks like him.

Murph was always going to be a marked man after his exploits of last season so don't knock him for not setting the world alight after only 2 and a half games. Taking the pressure off the others so they can score goals is as good as scoring yourself.

Crikey, best I change my opinion.

A jerk, moron, idiot, troll (really?!)banned from site, not a supporter.
And all because I dont rate Murphy, never have.

Its an opinion, get over it.....

Was curious to see would you sneak back TR11BLU and sure enough you have.
You are entitled to a genuine opinion and the 62/63 people who voted you down are entitled to theirs. You saying those things about murph is the equivalent to saying "yeah she's the Queen, but she's not very royal is she?"
Talk sense ffs.

Pleased Fraser is fit - real live wire and allows Freddie to play further forward as opposed to covering.
Gutted for Murph - struggling with fitness, which is effecting his game and will subsequently make his confidence suffer!
But I have no doubt he is worth every part of a place in this team - anybody there Tuesday night would have seen the Wednesday ended up with 3 - yes 3 players marking him by the end of the first half!
The benefit that has for our team is ridiculous!
I predicted and maintain he will get roughly 15 - 20 in all competitions once he gets fully fit!
Rest him - we've got the options!
