Oar in Australia Squad
Wednesday, 23rd Sep 2015 09:25

Town winger Tommy Oar has been named in the Australia squad for their World Cup qualifier against Jordan in Amman on Thursday 8th October.

Oar, who could make his Town debut at Old Trafford tonight, won his 26th full cap when he came on as a sub in the 3-0 win in Tajikistan and was amongst those to impress Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou.

“I guess from our perspective the pleasing thing is that guys like Tommy Rogic, Tommy Oar and [Nathan Burns] came on and made a difference in that game against Tajikistan and that’s what we want them to do whether they contribute from the start of the game or coming off the bench.”

Australia currently have a 100 per cent record in their qualifying campaign. Oar, 23, has scored two international goals.

Australia: Alex Cisak (Leyton Orient), Adam Federici (Bournemouth), Eugene Galekovic (Adelaide United), Jason Davidson (Huddersfield Town), Tarek Elrich (Adelaide United), Ryan McGowan (Dundee United), James Meredith (Bradford City), Trent Sainsbury (PEC Zwolle), Matthew Spiranovic (Hanghzou Greentown), Alex Wilkinson (Jeonbuk Motors), Bailey Wright (Preston North End), Luke Brattan (unattached), Massimo Luongo (Queens Park Rangers), Matt McKay (Brisbane Roar), Mark Milligan (Bani Yas), Aaron Mooy (Melbourne City), Nathan Burns (FC Tokyo), Tim Cahill (Shanghai Shenhua), Tomi Juric (Roda JC), Mathew Leckie (Ingolstadt), Tommy Oar (Ipswich Town), Tom Rogic (Celtic), James Troisi (Al Ittihad).
