Maitland-Niles Starts as England U19s Win
Saturday, 10th Oct 2015 16:29

Loanee Blues winger Ainsley Maitland-Niles won his third England U19 cap as his side beat Finland 1-0 in the second game of their Euro 2016 qualifying group in Skopje earlier this afternoon.

Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham came off the bench to net the winner in the 73rd minute to confirm progress to the elite qualifying round with a game remaining.

On Thursday Maitland-Niles, who is on loan with the Blues from Arsenal for the season, scored a late second goal having come on as a substitute as the England youngsters beat hosts Macedonia 2-0 in their opening game. They take on Italy in their final group game on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, neither winger Ryan Fraser nor keeper Jonathan Henly were in the Scotland U21s matchday squad which lost 2-1 to France in a Euro 2017 qualifier at Aberdeen's Pittodrie this afternoon.

Fraser, a regular starter for the Scottish U21s, missed out due to the ankle injury which sidelined him for Town’s trip to Blackburn. The Scots youngsters face Iceland in another qualifier on Tuesday, also in Aberdeen.
