Leicester's Lawrence Linked
Saturday, 30th Jan 2016 16:43

Town are amongst a number of Championship clubs reported to be showing interest in Leicester City forward Tom Lawrence.

The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers but his spell is up on Sunday but is set to be sent out for another loan stint.

And, according to the Daily Mail, Hull City, Burnley, Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and the Blues have all made enquiries regarding the Wales international.

Lawrence, who spent a month on loan at Rotherham last season around the time he was previously linked with the Blues, has made 15 starts and seven sub appearances, scoring two goals, since joining Blackburn in August.

The Foxes signed Lawrence from Manchester United for a reported £1 million on the final day of the 2014 summer transfer window after they had failed in their attempt to land Town’s David McGoldrick. But he has made just three league starts and one FA Cup sub appearance for the current Premier League leaders, all last season.

Wrexham-born Lawrence, who is contracted to the Foxes until June 2018, spent spells out on loan at Carlisle and Yeovil while a Manchester United player.

Town boss Mick McCarthy, who was spotted at the Madejski Stadium watching Tuesday’s opponents Reading in FA Cup action against Walsall this afternoon, has repeatedly played down the chances of the Blues adding to their squad before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday.

He's more of a modern No 10 (not a striker not a pure attacking midfielder). Might be a good option but quite how he fits with our clear recruitment strategy I don't know. I'll be go smacked if anyone signs before Monday night and that'll be it for the season.

Good that we keep getting linked with all these different players but can't see ME dipping into his wallet .

Pjewellisgod not only are you privileged to what goes on behind closed doors at PR you know how much actual net profit Portsmouth earn't. When they don't get promoted the fans committee will sack yet another manager and wish the had sent the youth team out for the cup.

What is it with people on here? When we were linked with him last year u were all saying great, letscgetvhim signed up. Now he's crap. Idiotic comments by a section of so called fans who just like to criticise every thing the club does. Get a grip guys. Just because he hasn't had the best scoring record this season so far doesn't make him a bad player. As for this perception we only have 30_40% possession every game? We certainly didn't against Leeds, and against Birmingham, even with 10 men we had 54% of the possession. And that doesn't happen if ur playing hoofball. Of course we do play that way far too much but is not always the case. Probably more at home than away tbh. If we don't sign ne1 by Monday then McCarthy needs to take a good long look at himself. He's been told there's money there if he wants it, but is so stubborn in his belief in the squad he has he won't use ne of it. I'm not saying he should spend millions, just get a couple of decent players in to add to what we have. Don't believe he will be more than I believe he'll take us ne further than he has. Here's hoping I'm wrong

Another down mark from essex57 .... Hilarious in you're pathetic stupidity. You ignorance to plain facts is amusing and you're stubborn refusal to accept reasoned argument by down marking my last 50 posts consecutively shows you most probably don't even read them. Carry on, you're the laughing stock of this chat board. I hope this is noted Phil !!!

Not only have we lost Parr and Oar we have also lost Bishop and McGoldrick for this season, because I and others cannot see either of those two playing again this season ?????
So what quality have we had in to replace those two ????

Ipswich supporters read the Daily Mail? A rag that peddles untruths, bigotry and panders to middle class prejudice is surely not the place to treat rumours seriously .

The best player in a Town shirt at the moment is Frazer and he is not ours, now what message does that say, we have some good players, but not any you could describe as great players!
If we ever to get out of this division i feel a major rebuild is required yet again!
Together we are a good team, but not a great team, one that could storm the division and that is what is needed to achieve our dreams, as someone has said, the window is about to close, and well whats happend? a 31 year old in and two good players opting to get out! depressing innit?

There is a lot of paper talk at the moment with the transfer window about to close;with probably only about 1 in 10 coming to fruition;so am not putting much store by this or any of the other speculation.
What does worry me though,be it McCarthy or Evans,is the seeming lack of ambition being shown.
This has been evident in the cups, which I think is clearly Mickmac;as he has made it quite clear by his words and actions.Mr Evans would seem to be a non interventionist owner, who presumably doesn't seek to influence the Manager in anyway.Mind you it would probably be difficult to do so with the intransigent current managerial occupant.Even though Managers such as Arsne Wenger who says you cant play youngsters any more in the cup and expect a result or the Spurs Manager who says he still likes the cup,and showed it with the team(and bench)he chose;would influence McCarthy who cannot tolerate any criticism and is likely to do the opposite.
Thereby losing the Club tens of thousands of pounds.Yes Essex57,there is money paid out by TV companies and bonus' for winning, and the gate money which is split 50/50 after expenses.
The transfer strategy is the other main worry. Why is Ipswich Town the only club that doesn't spend in the January transfer window, when it clear to the fans, and even the Manager, who let it slip after the Portsmouth game;that apart from first team regulars/favorites there are few others to step in(think back tracked on this later as Oar has over his reasons for leaving)

I do hope that we get at least another good midfielder like Jonny Williams over the next 36 hours;but am not holding my breath.I know he is at present loaned out to MKDons.

essex57. I must say 4 comments from you on this post and all of them are not about the article they are just filled with hate directed at fellow supporters of our club who opinions differ to yours. What sort of human being are you? Certain people you seem to use the down button just because it is their name that comes up, why are you such an angry individual. Try and be a bit more understanding that other supporters have different idea's and ideals to you about how the club is proceeding. We all want promotion and entertainment at Portman Road and may have differing views on how we think it could be achieved. Would you react the same way face to face?
