Murphy a Doubt for Slovakia Friendly
Saturday, 26th Mar 2016 09:29

Town striker Daryl Murphy is considered a doubt for the Republic of Ireland’s friendly with Slovakia on Tuesday having been replaced with a calf problem late on during last night’s 1-0 victory over Switzerland.

The 33-year-old, who was winning his 20th cap, came on as a sub in the 27th minute after Kevin Doyle suffered an ankle injury and made way himself with a tight calf 11 minutes from time.

Murphy missed Town’s recent games against Nottingham Forest and Bolton due to a calf problem.

Great servant to Ipswich over several seasons but Unfortunately Murphy missing game time with these niggling type of injuries are likely to become more frequent as he gets older.
Something that needs to be thought about when hopefully rebuilding our squad in the summer.

Oh dear. I wondered if he had been injured when I read he had come on as a sub and been substituted. Hope it is not too serious.

To be honest we did play better a few weeks back when he was injured as Bart wasn't hoofing the ball up the pitch as he wasn't there. We played more 'on the ground' and kept the ball longer. Hopefully with Didzy and Sears up front next weekend we might see some better football.
