Thorne Accepts Douglas Apology
Saturday, 7th May 2016 22:02

Town midfielder Jonathan Douglas has issued an apology to George Thorne after his block tackle led to the 23-year-old suffering a suspected fractured shin late on during the Blues’ 1-0 victory over Derby, with the Rams midfielder quickly responding that there are "no hard feelings”.

Douglas issued a statement via Twitter: “Absolutely gutted with what happened with George today.

“In no way did I intend on hurting him - I was just trying to block his shot, and help my team.

“I did apologise to him on the pitch and would like to put on record again that I am sorry. Never do I like to see a fellow professional injured.

“I truly wish him a speedy recovery and my thoughts are with George and hope he’ll be back as soon as possible for Derby, who I also wish good luck with their play-off campaign.”

Thorne quickly replied with a tweet of his own: “No hard feelings mate. It's football this stuff happens!”

All the best to Thorne with his recovery, terrible injury to suffer.

It's a pity that the Derby fans can't be as grown up about the incident as Thorne is.

Some people will look for, and superficially find, excuses for everything - fact is, that in recent games two opposing players, involved in tackles with our midfield players, have ended up with broken legs.

Not good - whatever the reason / cause.

Maybe a bit more flair, and a bit less brawn, would be a better balance......... !!!

These kind of things certainly enhances the physical reputation that Town have acquired since MM took over, not saying it is good or bad
