Monday, 13th Jun 2016 19:01

Town striker Daryl Murphy was an unused sub as the Republic of Ireland drew 1-1 with Sweden in their opening game at Euro 2016.

Wes Hoolahan put Ireland in front on 48 with the Swedes equalising via a Ciaran Clark own goal in the 71st minute.

Belgium face Italy in this evening’s other Group E game at 8pm. Ireland face the Belgians on Saturday and then the Italians a week on Wednesday.

Should've brought him on for the aerial challenges instead of Robbie Keane.

I agree with you clint_eastwood, i thought robbie keane didnt do much at all when he came on, probably only touched the ball twice from what i saw. Murph would of done alot better with the aerial challenges and holding the ball up there especially with the height the swedes

Or maybe O'Neill looked at their respective scoring records for their country and thought'' you know what, maybe Keane is more likely to nick a goal than that fella from Ipswich'
