Burley on Bolton Disaster
Burley on Bolton Disaster

George Burley admitted his side made "terrible errors" as the Blues poorly capitulated 4-1 at the Reebok Stadium. However, Burley is still taking heart from last week's performance against Chelsea.

Burley said: "It was a big game for both clubs and we knew we probably needed a victory to push out of the bottom three, but it started going wrong after about a minute.

"At the end of the day we've made terrible errors and if you look at the four goals, Bolton haven't had to work hard to score any of them.

"If you defend and play like that in the first half, starting from the first minute, you're going to lose the game.

"We didn't cave in and we came out and played in the second half, but by then the game was lost."

"But if we keep making mistakes like we did today then we're going to be punished."

Burley, "angry and embarrassed" by the first half display, felt his players let down the travelling fans: "The team must look at themselves after the awful first half display and know that they let those fans down badly.

The display in the Chelsea match last Monday however, does provide the Town boss with some hope: "Our performance against Chelsea proves we can play against the big teams in the Premiership."

He admitted though that getting enough points from the Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Manchester United and Liverpool game will not be easy.
