U18s Beaten By Huddersfield Saturday, 10th Sep 2016 15:27 by James Ager Town's U18s’ winning start to the season came to an abrupt end as they were beaten 3-0 by Huddersfield Town at Playford Road on Saturday morning. Declan Daniels (pictured) crashed a long-range effort against the visitors' crossbar inside the opening 10 minutes, but that was the closest either side came to scoring before the interval. As the rain started to fall after the break, Conor McKendry capitalised on a defensive slip and broke forward, but his effort fell wide of the far post when he should really have given Town the lead. Shortly after the hour mark Cedwyn Scott put Huddersfield ahead when he poked home from close range and Luca Colville doubled the Terriers' lead on 69 with a stunning effort from 35 yards that flew into the top corner. Six minutes later Scott added a third with a powerful left-foot shot which crept under Harry Wright in the Town goal. Sub Steven Cahill's deflected effort came off the woodwork late on for the Blues, who appeared to lose their discipline when they fell behind having had the best of the play up until then. U18s: Wright, Murrell, Clements, Downes (Cahill 33), Marshall, Woolfenden, McKendry (Wilton 66), McGavin, Daniels, Nydam, Meldrum (Lankester 72). Unused: Egan, Fullwood.
