Town Linked With Southampton Winger Isgrove
Sunday, 29th Jan 2017 10:44

Town are reported to be keen on Southampton winger Lloyd Isgrove, who the Saints are reportedly willing to allow out on loan.

According to The Sun on Sunday, the 24-year-old could make a temporary move having been unable to break into the first-team at St Mary’s this season.

Town boss Mick McCarthy is said to be interested in bringing the once-capped Wales international to Portman Road before Tuesday's 11pm deadline.

Isgrove’s first appearance for Southampton’s senior side this season came in last night’s 5-0 home FA Cup thumping by Arsenal in which he was replaced after 65 minutes.

Born in Yeovil, Isgrove came through the Saints academy and in total has made four starts and five sub appearances for the Hampshire club, although his only Premier League appearance was as a sub early in the 2014/15 campaign.

The 5ft 8in tall wideman, whose contract is up in the summer, has spent spells on loan at Peterborough, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley, who he helped to win promotion via last season’s League One play-off final.

Isgrove, who came on as a sub in Town’s FA Cup tie against Southampton at St Mary’s in January 2015, won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy both with Posh and the Tykes.

if this is true i am with jas0999 and TimmyH this season is over so why take loans until the end of the season ,,we need to start building for next season bringing our own players on not other teams rejects good or bad. Remember the five point plan or has been kicked into touch now..it has by almighty Mick McCarthy so he need kicking out as well.

........... move on. More of the same garbage - about 5 levels of league higher than we would be interested in.

I can't wait for Wednesday - no more rumours..

I'm interested when we sign them & I'd be very interested if we appeared to have some semblance of a plan let alone a 5 point one..

In general those these rumours are just jobs for the boys for lazy journos. We need players but I'll wait until we sign them before comment.

At the moment the club spin doctors have told us about numerous 7 figure bids which is no more than a smoke screen to keep us fans on side what a load of tosh!!!! we are treated as cretins from A-Z ,with regard to a loan who is out of contract in the summer then why not have a look at him what's to lose!!??

Good signing for us I think - been pushing this for a whole. Hopefully some substance to it - loan then sign. Can play inside too (as can Lawrence) so good.

Great player. Saw him play a few years back and was very impressed.

I haven't seen him play, but at 24 he should be near his peak (for a winger) and 0 goals in 27 games at L1 Barnsley last season doesn't inspire me!!

Get him in and play him out of position as a striker? Its the MM way!
