Bialkowski Reveals January Interest
Thursday, 9th Mar 2017 11:39

Town keeper Bartosz Bialkowski has revealed that a number of clubs made enquiries for him during the January transfer window, although there were no firm bids.

The 29-year-old, who is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2018 with the club having an option for a further season, was Town’s Player of the Year last season and has continued his impressive form during this campaign.

"There weren't any concrete offers in January but there were quite a few enquiries,” the Pole told Onet.pl.

“The transfer would have never happened anyway as my bosses were pretty clear about it: you're not for sale. We'll see what the future holds but I'm not stressing over it.

“I feel very good in Ipswich but I've also got my personal goals. I still dream about Premier League.”

Top flight clubs are understood to have been keeping tabs on the former Southampton and Notts County man and other Championship sides are also likely to be keen, while Bialkowski was interesting Chinese clubs in January 2016.

I wouldn't blame him one bit for wanting to go, but I'd want big BIG money for him knowing the bottom Prem Club alone receive a staggering £90m handout...you can double the fees of few seasons ago, but we'd probably take £3m knowing us, "oh we couldn't stand in his way" we will hear....we shouldn't stand in his way, but that still comes with a huge price!!

If a premier league club ( or someone like Newcastle ) comes for him he will be off and Evans will want to pocket some more cash. We had better sign Gerken or we will be in big trouble.

He's our most consistent player. May as well let him go so our team can be consistently inconsistent.

He'll be on his way soon enough - if MM is still here next season 'different' class' Gerks (another favourite) will be back between the sticks.

You can just see it happening.

Next season doesn't bare thinking about - without the loanies this season, and Bart of course, we would have been dead certs for relegation this season, and would certainly have been in the bottom three.

With respect to next season I am hoping that we might be pleasantly surprised. Leicesters apparent lack of interest in Lawrence and him being happy here might give us a better chance of getting him than many might think. If however a Prem club is determined to get him then that might rule us out. If howver we can sign Huws and possibly Williams then that might also help us persuade Lawrence to give us a chance.
Bart going is a major danger. While Gerks is a good shot stopper he is not quite the allround package that Bart is. Anyway lets see what happens.......

29 years old and coming into the peak age of his career as a goalkeeper so you can't blame him for having ambitions. He certainly wouldn't be out of place in the Premier League. Hopefully we start to show the same ambition at board/management level to make it possible with us.
