Town chairman David Sheepshanks welcomed the reserves winning the FA Premier Reserve League (South) last night. He said it illustrated the talent coming through within the club.

Sheepshanks said: "It's such a great tonic for the club to win a piece of silverware. It symbolises everything that is good here.

"It shows what is coming through on the conveyor belt. I'm very excited that so many of these players are still in the Under-19 team.

"I'm thrilled for Dale Roberts who has shown immense courage throughout his illness and has never for one minute given in. And I'm thrilled for these lads."

Darren Ambrose was singled out for praise by former Blues manager Bobby Ferguson: "Darren Ambrose thrilled me with so much of what he did. He's still got to develop more strength. But what a cracking prospect the club have got.

"I don't know who you'd compare him with really. He's a bit unique these days. He's always bright, can beat people willy-nilly and never stops running.

"He's got what I would describe as lazy skills, something very special in the game. He goes past people with ease. It's a great gift and a very exciting one for Town fans to look forward to seeing more and more."

Ambrose made his first team debut in the 2-0 loss at Arsenal recently.
