Friday, 7th Jul 2017 09:58

Town U23s will play their first friendly of pre-season on Saturday at the official opening of Felixstowe & Walton United’s £530,000 redevelopment of their Goldstar Ground (KO 4pm).

Prior to the match there will be an official opening ceremony from 2pm where former Blues chairman David Sheepshanks will be the chief guest and will unveil a plaque.

The redevelopment includes a new pitchside complex housing six changing rooms, a hospitality area, a large function room, spectator toilets, a turnstile block, a bar and kitchen, a club shop and associated hardstanding and pitch surrounds.

Admission is £6 for adults and £3 for concessions with under-16s entering for free. A full list of Town’s pre-season games can be found here.

I look forward to seeing Mr Sheepshanks again.

I don't feel it was altogether his fault that we went into administration, although as Chairman the buck should have stopped with him.Think he got a bit carried away after finishing 5th in the Premier League under the stewardship of George Burley;a position Mr McCarthy has never managed in his long career.

Some would also question his judgement for being so bullish when recommending Mr Evans to us shareholders;but this is water under the bridge now,and he has done pretty well for himself in the world of football since leaving Ipswich.

Not sure what side we shall see tomorrow,as most of 2nd string players are with the first team in Ireland, and the under 18's are playing tonight?
