![]() Tuesday, 14th May 2002 10:50 TWTD understands that two clubs have already expressed firm interest in Town striker Marcus Stewart. One we believe is Sunderland, while the other is likely to be newly promoted West Bromwich Albion. Sunderland have been linked with Stewart for a number of weeks now, the 29-year-old thought to be a potential replacement for Kevin Phillips. The Sunderland striker is expected to leave the Stadium of Light in the summer. Birmingham sources reported that West Brom were showing an interest in Stewart at the end of April, shortly after their promotion to the Premiership. Stewart has had a frustrating 2001/02 season with goals a rarity and a broken jaw keeping him out for a long period. He never regained his form after his spell on the sidelines, and towards the end of the season was in and out of George Burley's side. Stewart has three years left on his current Town contract and is likely to fetch around the £3 million mark.
