Friday, 29th Sep 2017 10:30

Town are backing Suffolk FA’s Love Football, Live Football Week celebrating grassroots football.

The week, which is sponsored by MH Goals Ltd, is taking place from Sarturday 14th October and will culminate with the Blues’ East Anglian derby against Norwich City on Sunday 22nd October, which is being shown live on Sky.

Love Football, Live Football Week will feature more than 40 events celebrating grassroots football across the nine days including futsal, walking football and girls’ better player pathway sessions.

Suffolk FA staff will be in the FanZone prior to the Norwich match with the Love Football, Live Football Instagram board and the Boots2Africa boot bank for fans to donate their old football boots.

There will then be two U7 4v4 games taking place during half-time and Suffolk FA’s chief executive Richard Neal will be talking about the week on the Tannoy.

Suffolk FA’s senior football development officer Michael Cornall said: “It is absolutely fantastic that Love Football, Live Football Week will gain such exposure.

“The intention of the week is to celebrate grassroots football and there is no better stage than in front of over 25,000 fans at Portman Road during the biggest game of the season!”

An Ipswich Town spokesman said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Suffolk FA’s Love Football, Live Football Week once again. It’s a great initiative that celebrates grassroots football and will hopefully encourage individuals to either participate or volunteer.”

The Suffolk FA will be organising ballboys for the derby, while Love Football, Live Football Week will be featured in the programme.

Cornall added: “Ipswich Town have been fantastic in supporting Suffolk FA Love Football, Live Football Week.

“I would like to personally thank everyone involved at Ipswich Town for this. I am sure it will be a fantastic end to the week.”
