Celina One of Six Changes at Cardiff
Tuesday, 31st Oct 2017 19:06

Town boss Mick McCarthy has made six changes to the side which beat Burton Albion 2-1 on Saturday for this evening’s match away against Cardiff City with Bersant Celina among those coming into the team.

Also starting are Dominic Iorfa, Tommy Smith, making his first appearance since the opening day, Flynn Downes, Grant Ward, Kevin Bru, handed his first start of the season.

Adam Webster, Martyn Waghorn, David McGoldrick, Jordan Spence and Freddie Sears are all rested and drop to the bench, while Tristan Nydam is missing from the 18.

The Blues look set to start in a 4-3-3/4-5-1 system with Downes and Bru, who came on as a sub against the Brewers, in midfield with Cole Skuse and Ward and Celina in the wide roles and Joe Garner the lone central striker.

Cardiff are without striker Kenneth Zohore and midfielder Aron Gunnarsson due to ankle injuries and full-back Joe Bennett, who has a calf problem.

The Bluebirds make three changes from the team which drew 0-0 with Millwall at the weekend with Lee Tomlin, Omar Bogle and Callum Paterson coming into the side for Craig Bryson, Blues summer target Danny Ward - who both drop to the bench - and the injured Bennett.

Former Town keeper Brian Murphy and ex-loan winger Liam Feeney are both among the Cardiff subs.

Cardiff: Etheridge, Peltier, Morrison (c), Ecuele Manga, Tomlin, Ralls, Bamba, Paterson, Mendez-Laing, Bogle, Hoilett. Subs: Murphy, Ward, Feeney, Halford, Damour, Bryson, Gounongbe.

Town: Bialkowski, Iorfa, Knudsen, Chambers (c), T Smith, Skuse, Downes, Bru, Celina, Ward, Garner. Subs: Gerken, Webster, Waghorn, McGoldrick, Spence, Connolly, Sears. Referee: Oliver Langford (West Midlands).

Wow...never saw that coming...6 changes (and not any of his 3 generals)
I hope starting Celina is not just a one off and Mick making a point of I told you so. The guy needs to play games not 10 mins here and 5 mins there with one start and that is it.
After Iorfa performance at Sheff Utd I am surprised to see him back in the starting XI so early (must have got a good shine on Micks car over the weekend)
So it is one upfront then (4-5-0-1) which does not surprise me at all in the battle of the men of yester year.

Come on some of you think about it! Webster has had a long time out, 3 games in 7 days and he could break down again, so if he is to miss one this is the logical game as it's the one in the middle. MM can't win, if he was to break down and be out for another spell the same people moaning now would also moan that he shouldn't have been pushed into all 3 games!! Agree Waghorn is a bit of a strange one though.
But please with some of this stop moaning for the sake of it. After all Celina is starting!!!
Suspect we are looking at 4-5-1 with Ward and Celina supporting Garner where possible. Alternatively celina playing in the hole just behind Garner (which could be his most suited position)

Big MM contradiction in playing Celina, especially after explaining his reasoning vs Burton and throwing his toys out of the pram at the weekend. BIg Mick knows Warnock inside out. Hope his team sticks it to Warnock bigtime. Trust in Mick. COYB

It almost looks as if he has picked a weak team around Celina so that if Celina fails he can say told you so.
Hope I am completely wrong about that but the team selection is weird

Come on, let's get behind MM & the boys. He's kept the spine with Bart, Chambers, Skuse & Garner. No-one can doubt Smith, Downes & Celina's quality in justifying a start & McGoldric & Waghon (prob our best 2 players this season) need a rest. Bring them back on Sat, as 3 games in 8 days is tough going. Take a point tonight & 3 on Sat

Just a little puzzled as to why we have 2 right backs on the bench, i.e. Spence and Connolly, yet Kenlock is not there. Is he injured? Otherwise, very unlucky not to feature at all.

Mick's possibly made the changes as up until the last 20 mins on Saturday we were rubbish. McGoldrick lacklustre , Sears ineffectual, Webster still only 70% at best .
Those of you suggesting he's picked a line-up to make Celina look bad , please get a grip !!
Do you know how pathetic you sound ?

Have to be careful what I say on here as I'm sorry but Micks ruined the club to the core now but there's still too many want him here? After playing 4 strikers Saturday then 1 tonight he really is showing his middle finger to the fans but some won't see it like that!! I'm sorry but he's ruining the club with every game now!!! Get lost Mick and take your useless backroom with you!!

Seems to me that Skuse would need to have 2 broken legs to get dropped.
