U23s in Action at Birmingham
Thursday, 22nd Mar 2018 13:50

Town’s U23s are in action away against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s this afternoon (KO 2.15pm).

No senior players are involved with Ben Morris the only one in the dquad with any Championship experience having made sub appearances in the last two games.

The 18-year-old, whose only previous competitive involvement with the senior side came in the Carabao Cup tie at Crystal Palace in August, was delighted to make his league bow in the Hull City home game before appearing again late on at Bristol City on Saturday.

“I’ve been working hard all season so I’m grateful the gaffer gave me a fantastic opportunity to play in the Championship,” he told the club site.""

“Since I’ve been involved the senior guys have been brilliant and really welcomed me into the set up.""

“My family are obviously very proud and they were at both games so I’m glad they saw me get onto the pitch. I’ll continue to work hard and should another opportunity arise I will make sure I do my best.”

Trialist Ryley Scott, who was most recently with West Ham's academy set-up, is again among the subs as he was during Monday’s 3-2 home defeat to Leeds.

U23s: Wright, Brown, Clements, Cotter, Goteni, Ndaba, McKendry, Sagaf, Morris, Folami, Drinan. Subs: Hayes, El Mizouni, Scott, Dobra, Foudil.

Would have been opportunity to play a few first teamers,or at least those on the fringes, unless of course they are still resting after last week ?I realise we could only have 3 over age players;but ssem to have got the youth team as happens regularly with these fixtures.
