Matt Holland's Ireland look likely to progress to the next stage of the World Cup after a lethargic Cameroon only managed a 1-0 win against Saudi Arabia this morning. Ireland now need to beat Saudi Arabia by two goals to confirm their qualification.

Even before that game the Town skipper was confident his side would make it. He felt they played well against Germany yesterday and deserved their late equaliser.

He told his own site (www.matthollandweb.com): "It [the Germany result] has given us a decent chance of qualifying and proved once again how resilient the Irish are.

"The spirit, as I'm sure you can imagine is absolutely brilliant. Two draws against the two favoured sides in the group are very creditable performances and mean that Germany will have to go full throttle against Cameroon next week.

"I only wish my carbon-copy shot of my goal against Cameroon had gone in instead of sliding the wrong side of the post. Anyway, a great day and a great performance."

The Ireland-Saudi Arabia game is next Tuesday at 12.30pm.
