![]() Saturday, 22nd Jun 2002 12:09 Town chairman David Sheepshanks has revealed that the club have turned down a bid for a player. Sheepshanks is not saying who it is or which club made the bid but the offer was clearly not up to Town's valuation. The chairman said: "A bid was made for one of our players but it was nowhere near our valuation of the player so was therefore turned down. "We have had a number of enquiries about players but no firm offers up until now. Clubs are aware of their own finances and it is prudent for many not to do deals until towards the end of the close season so they don't have to pay wages. "But many managers also want players to be in place for the pre-season training and in the next couple of weeks we can expect an increase in interest."
