Kenlock, Jackson and Edwards Start at Boro
Saturday, 29th Dec 2018 14:16

Myles Kenlock, Kayden Jackson and Gwion Edwards all return to the Blues starting line-up at Middlesbrough.

Kenlock makes his first appearance under Paul Lambert having returned from an ankle injury with Jonas Knudsen dropping to the bench. It’s the first time Lambert has changed his back four since taking charge.

Edwards takes over from Grant Ward, who is out for at least nine months having suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury at QPR, on the right of the front three with Jackson coming in for Ellis Harrison, who drops to the bench, down the middle.

Former Blue Grant Leadbitter isn’t in the Boro 18, while Town target Rudy Gestede is among their subs.

Middlesbrough: Randolph, Friend (c), Ayala, Hugill, Howson, Downing, Fry, Saville, Flint, Wing, Besic. Subs: Lonergan, Batth, Clayton, Assombalonga, McNair, Tavernier, Gestede.

Town: Gerken, Spence, Chambers (c), Pennington, Kenlock, Chalobah, Nolan, Downes, Edwards, Sears, Jackson. Subs: Bialkowski, Knudsen, Harrison, Bishop, Roberts, Nsiala, Dozzell. Referee: Jeremy Simpson (Lancashire).

Glad to see Jackson get a start I still believe given the right service he could be a good striker at this level so far this season he's lived on scraps for service been in and out of the team so let's hope he has a good game personally I'd play Jackson and Harrison up front with sears wide left Rowe wide right and Dozzell just behind instead of Nolan still don't think we'll get anything today but at least it's a day out COYB'S

Let's see if Kenlock can impress today. I always thought he was a steady player. Knudsen dropped or rested, only PL knows but fingers crossed that Borough are as poor as their fans suggest and we go for it.

Glad to see Kenlock starting in place of the average Knudsen...hope we can get something out of this but probability says we'll help Boro out.

WOW! Finally a change among "The Undroppables" ....hmmm maybe the bright PL reads my recent largely skeptical (but still well supportive of him overall) lengthy twtd posts after all?! LOL

Otherwise quite surprised "The Britt" is only on the bench for Boro, as he not only has a serious knack of scoring against us but generally speaking simply with his physic & pace etc. also on several occasions absolutely making our much beleaguered defenders look unmistakably silly or disorientated during the process!

Glad to see Kenlock given a chance, but it needs to be over a number of games, not just one or two. The return of Jackson is good, although will suffer from a lack of service as Harrison and Roberts did before. If we can get Sears and Edward further forward then they can provide this much needed service.
COYB !!!

If we are playing Kenlock why not drop chambers and play Knudsen in his place.Knudsen isa far better headerof the ball than chambers.

Knudsen needs to be as far away from the first team as possible.

I do hope Lambert has warned the youngsters about the threat from Saville
