![]() Wednesday, 10th Jul 2002 18:39 George Burley says that departing loanee Matteo Sereni had a hard year in England. The Italian keeper's move home was announced by Brescia on Tuesday afternoon, although Town have only this afternoon received confirmation regarding the paperwork. Burley told the club site: "It was a difficult first year in England for Matteo, Andy Marshall did exceptionally well for us and Matteo felt that the right move for him would be to go back to Italy. "He made it clear that is what he wanted and we all wish him every success and hope the move works out for him." The 27-year-old has moved on a one-year loan and was welcomed by their general manager, Gianluca Nani: "We are delighted that Matteo will play for Brescia next season." "He is developing into a truly great player. I believe this is one of the most important deals we have made this summer. "We have also been able to secure first option to sign Matteo at the end of next season, but I would prefer not to reveal the financial details of that agreement."
