Four Changes as Blues Switch System Against Blades
Saturday, 27th Apr 2019 16:48

Town boss Paul Lambert has made four changes as the Blues face promotion-chasing Sheffield United lining up with a two-man attack at Bramall Lane.

In defence, Myles Kenlock returns at left-back after missing the Swansea game with a hamstring injury and Callum Elder drops to the bench.

Cole Skuse and Teddy Bishop replace Trevoh Chalobah and Andre Dozzell in what looks set to be a diamond midfield with Alan Judge at the most attacking point behind strike pair Will Keane and Kayden Jackson, who replaces Gwion Edwards in the XI.

The Blades, whose promotion to the Premier League will be all but confirmed if they beat the Blues, make one change with Chris Basham replacing Martin Cranie.

Ex-Town striker David McGoldrick starts, while one-time Blues loanee Richard Stearman is on the bench.

Sheffield United: Henderson, Basham, Egan, O’Connell, Baldock, Norwood (c), Fleck, Stevens, Duffy, McGoldrick, Hogan. Subs: Lundstram, Dowell, Sharp, Madine, Stearman, Moore, Cranie.

Town: Gerken, Bree, Chambers (c), Nsiala, Kenlock, Skuse, Bishop, Downes, Judge, Keane, Jackson. Subs: Chalobah, Dozzell, Elder, Emmanuel, Bialkowski, El Mizouni, Ndaba. Referee: Tim Robinson (West Sussex).

Better late than never, I suppose.

Hopefully, this'll be a fore-taste of our formation for next year...

Great to see 2 strikers although not having Edwards takes away some of the supply.
Better late than never.
Good to see Bishop back as we have missed him immensely

Keane injured after just six minutes. No striker on bench!

Might this indicate PL is considering WK for next season ?He definitely looks more the part than our other permanent imports( who seem yet to have lots to learn ,and much to demonstrate ) ?
But overall it looks as if SU will have far too much nouse for us ; not at all convinced MK is athletic or intelligent enough to be our LB ; unconvinced about his football intellect and total positional sensibilities ,but let's hope he actually comes alive and shows he can be a contender !
Unless we are awake from the whistle we may be overrun by a side full of conviction and current confidence who'll likely go up if they play as well as previously !
But COYB

If the spine of our side next year continues to involve Chambers and Skuse then we won't be be going anywhere fast.

Suffolk boy - let's hope we don't sign Will Keane - he lasted just six minutes in this one. Missed eight games recently. Would be tough to carry a player like that in a League One.

Chambers and Nsiala both look very dodgy with the ball playing out of defence and yes when they haven't got the ball too...some others just look like they should be in league one at best!

I can't watch another minute of it this is depressing!
Continually giving the ball away when we have any type of possession.

Forget that we are giving the ball away all over the pitch

Oh my Ipswich town where have you gone

Sad sad stuff

New system .... would that be with 13 players instead of the usual 11? That unfortunately is the only one that would work with this bunch of losers ...
