Season Ticket Total Just Misses 12,000 Mark
Tuesday, 7th May 2019 15:38

Town’s season ticket total for 2019/20 had reached 11,748 by yesterday’s early bird deadline, 252 away from the 12,000 mark which would have triggered a 10 per cent price reduction.

The figure is, however, up on this year’s season ticket total of 10,200 by more than 1,500.

In addition to a 12.5 per cent price cut for most tickets, the club introduced an incentive scheme when they announced next season’s prices which would have resulted in further reductions if 12,000, 13,000 and then 14,000 seats were sold.

Around 95 per cent of season ticket holders from this campaign have renewed for 2019/20.

Owner Marcus Evans will be writing a personal letter of thanks to season ticket holders to thank them for their support.

Tickets remain on sale at Planet Blue and ITFC Direct but now at the increased post-early bird prices.

Either extend the time frame or just give the discount. It's so close... There should be some give here in good faith.

if club had ounce of decency they would extend it. Notice or no notice. Season hasn't been too thrilling to have this deadline

I don't live locally and don't follow the official ITFC site, but did the club ,either directly or via the local media, post regular updates in respect of the sales progress?
I'm sure if it was apparent that the target was getting so tantalisingly close, it would have encouraged waverers to purchase, as well as providing some added interest to the process.
Possible opportunity lost for both club and supporters?

Amazing effort given the dross that's been served up in recent years. I suspect even those behind all the spin and discount ideas have been surprised by the take up. Let's hope such loyalty and support gets rewarded by performances and results in League One.

If they aren't going to offer us something as a good will gesture (say 8% reduction) how about at least giving us all a voucher for the club shop for £35. They'd probably actually make money on that deal when people buy extra stuff while they are there. And it would gather goodwill.

An amazing effort by Town fans! We have missed target by a small amount, but we have indeed missed. We cannot and should not complain extra discount will not be paid. However.....Mr Evans you have an excellent PR and goodwill opportunity here

Waiting for the retained list before renewing as I am not keen on some of the players still on the books. When Lambert has had a good clear out and shows how he intends to refresh the team I can then decide whether to renew.

In all fairness to Evans his given the fans a chance to purchase season tickets early with carrot of a discount with certain targets being hit. Unfortunately the fans didn't buy enough to trigger the discount. He had given the option and the reasonable targets weren't hit. What do you want him to do. There is no guarantee that these targets were going to be me. It's up to people to buy them

I think Marcus should let's us have the 10% or at least 9% extra off. But hey I don't think he will as he wasn't even at the game on Sunday, was he?

This is still a remarkably good effort for what is essentially League One football. The targets were always optimistic. The ticket price reduction of 12.5% is also very much in line with what you'd expect in League One.

Also, the extra revenue gained by not having to reduce prices further is probably a win for the club.

SouperJim, that's the attitude mate, supporters must put the club first.

Well I tried to order 4 on Saturday and the system would not let me. I was only allowed to purchase one. My friend who wanted to sit with me had to register and hope my seat had not been sold. We tried to call the club but the ticket office was closed. One of the others in our group could not recall his user details-the message said......cal the ticket office. Eventually we did buy 4 but it was such a faff and took well over an hour. I wonder how many people requiring more than one ticket did decide to give up!

Unfortunately the ticket office (in Planet Blue) offer little encouragement. Won't reserve seats so mates can sit together and have no idea of numbers sold.

If it had been a simple offer equivalent to the discount offered for 14,000 tickets I would have renewed. I'm sure many others would renew or buy new tickets if that discounted price was on offer from the off. It's a right cack handed way of promoting tickets. Imagine popping into Tesco to buy something and being told this is the price but if we get 14,000 customers today you will get it 35% cheaper, if we get a few less it will be 25% cheaper. If you want to maximise ticket sales then offer the discounted price from the off. If the objective is to get people through the door it's a funny way of doing it.

Theresa May got an Extension on the Brexit !!! So why can't we have one on the Early Bird ????

herfie added 20:01 - May 7
The wider and deeper benefits to be gained far outweigh the financial impact of a further 10%. Or, put another way, what does 10% buy ME? What might it buy him when, to many, he personally remains very much in deficit as the club's owner with ultimate responsibility for our current position. Risk vs reward - a no brainier.

I had the same experience, my son had to log on and do his own, I could not log on or get help on the phone and had to go to the Planet Blue in person, by which time the seat next to my son was sold. Does anyone know why we cannot buy more than one at a time, the website is difficult and must be costing us sales?

I did feel that the Early Bird deadline was too soon when a lot of people have been away due to Easter Half Term. Not the first time the deadline has been on a Bank Holiday. Should be extended by a week or so.
