Lambert: Dozzell Would Cost a Helluva Lot of Money
Tuesday, 23rd Jul 2019 22:58 by Darren Campbell/Phil Ham

Town manager Paul Lambert says a Premier League club would have to pay “a helluva lot of money” to land midfielder Andre Dozzell. TWTD revealed yesterday that a number of top flight sides, most notably local rivals Norwich City, are keen on the 20-year-old.

Asked about that interest, Lambert said: “Dozzell's playing really well at the minute. I've not heard anything about that but if a Premier League club comes knocking then they would have to spend a helluva lot of money.

“He's a really good footballer, the lad, he really is. He's really technical, really good footballer. A lovely left foot, and he's still learning the game, still developing into the game. But a really technical, very good footballer.”

As previously reported, the Canaries, Brighton and Crystal Palace are all interested in Dozzell with the Blues having received a number of enquiries this summer, while AFC Bournemouth are also believed to be monitoring his situation.

Town have opened discussions with academy product Dozzell, who came on as a sub at Notts County this evening, regarding a new contract in order to keep him at Portman Road. The former Copleston High School pupil is contracted until next summer with the club having an option for a further season.

Town are believed to value the England U19 international at around the £5 million mark, while it’s likely the interested Premier League clubs would be looking to do a deal with less cash up front, perhaps nearer to £3 million, with further top-ups based on senior appearances or other milestones as his career progresses.

If Norwich offer another 10k per week, don't think his dad will have much say in it.

Well a "helluva" lot of money isn't £5m that's for sure, you'll find it's around the £15m mark and for Prem Club that's just a punt these days with all this Sky money filling their deep pockets..

Some just haven't a clue how good he is, his touch and movement is top class and Lambert and anyone else who knows anything about football knows it, imo he should spend time in Spain rather than the Prem though, would suit his game and would turn him into a "helluva" player and grow him as a person within three years, then a huge move to Spurs with a 20% sell on for us in place...

Agree with Hoppy too..

Dozzell is a class player. He'll get better and better and be a key player in the future. He can see passes that none of our midfielders can and glides around the pitch. I'd be wanting more £5 Million for him, but it's likely he'll have a clause in his contract releasing him for a low figure if a Prem club wants him.

Well imo he hasn't done anything at this club and if he doesn't build himself up won't make it as the Champinship down is very physical an he looks like a young kid playing with men and as he's Jason's son thinks he has a right to play but Jason at his age was a big lad and could use his weight I believe he is a luxury player to play when the team is playing well and winning games and I rate El Mizouni he looks class and ran the show 1st half against Col U and looks as though he will cut it just behind the striker and I hope strikers 🤞and he scores goals he was doing things we all expect of Dozzell by now cos that game Dozzell went missing but I suppose that's what happens when you have boot deals at 13yrs old fill those boots Dozzy
