Town Linked With Renewed Vincent-Young Interest
Sunday, 11th Aug 2019 15:35

Town are being linked with renewed interest in former trialist Kane Vincent-Young.

Colchester full-back Vincent-Young spent time on trial with the Blues during pre-season ahead of 2018/19 but wasn't offered a deal and ended up signing a new two-year contract with the U’s.

Last week the 23-year-old, who was previously with Tottenham’s academy, was linked with moves to Championship sides Luton and Charlton but their transfer deadline passed with Vincent-Young still at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Now, according to the EADT, Town are weighing up a move for the Camden-born defender, who is primarily a right-back but also operates on the other flank.

Right-back is understood to be one of the areas where manager Paul Lambert is looking for one of his three additions prior to the League One window closing on September 2nd.

However, it’s likely to U’s would want a fee for Vincent-Young with funds known to be in short supply at Portman Road.

This does not excite me or get my blood running-----more business on the cheap-----why, especially when the owner says funds are available----but he says lots of things doesnt he!!

Guthrum. This 'success' you speak of? Please explain as seems to have passed us all by....

I have no idea how people mange to defend this man. It's extraordinary.

At the point where he was flogging season tickets he promised to invest. He hasn't. It was a lie.
The week before the window closed last season he sold our top goal scorer, Wgahorn, and failed to replace him. We then failed to score goals and were relegated.
The season before he did exactly the same when selling Murphy.

He is mugging us off and people are still buying it.

Whatever Evan's is or isn't.
We try for promotion on the cheap.
Which is a shame because even 1 or 2 quality signings would put us in with a great chance.

There are no excuses for Marcus Evans making bad decisions then refusing to bail us out of the mess he's put us in.
However, this isn't the 90s anymore, even Jack Walker or Sir John Hall wouldn't be able to do what they did back then with Blackburn and Newcastle Utd: the game has been degraded by the ridiculous money train hoarded by the Prem. 80mill for Maguire? Insane. It filters down: twenty years ago you'd never have seen a League Two top scorer driving in to our club in a brand new SUV! Expectations all round need to be tempered.

Could be a good player for town. We have had 3 managers here now since Emmanuel has been here & he still can't get into the team. Think his days are numbered, poor lad never given a run in the team. Be good signing for Col u.

Exactly the issue. The game has moved on meaning in any given league a certain amount needs to be invested to stay competitive (please don't say we spent 6million last summer, our net spent was a pathetic minus 5-6 million.) The fact we have failed to do this is why we are where we are. Evans is responsible, is still going with the same broken approach and some on here still defend him despite the above. Incredible.

I'm guessing Colchester will ask too much (i.e. more than £300,000) and we won't pay, although a swap option might swing it. I assume we could have got this guy for nothing in 2018, but then PL wasn't in charge and PH didn't pursue it - probably because he had his own project, i.e. Donacien. Can't remember much about what he did in the friendly, 'cos I was watching our players, but at least one person on here thought K V-Y was half decent. If K V-Y does come, then Donacien might be a decent centre back option instead.

Maybe some people on here can make Evan's an offer, then we can get back to the good times15 to 20 years ago. Seems likely that we will have a good amount in the kitty to invest wisely in the club, so we can compete with the Prem/Championship teams again. Good start town. Onwards and upwards. Support the players that make up the team.

Might have missed something, did someone make him buy the club 12 years ago?!! Oh right...

Bluearmy 81 tax saved by offsetting Town losses against profits in other areas of the group?! Plus interest to him on our debt which has risen from around 30m to 90m .
A/ The interest will never be paid back.
B/ may i suggest you enrol on an accounting course specialising in taxation.

Oh. Why charge it then? 🤔
Are you suggesting Town losses do not offset tax payable on profits in other areas of the group?! Really?!!! 😂🤣

Bluearmy surely the profit from the fictitious interest charged would exceed any loss made to claim tax against!
