Town Charged with Misconduct
Town Charged with Misconduct
Wednesday, 17th May 2000 10:42

Town go into tonight's quite remarkably important game with Bolton with an FA misconduct charge hanging over them.

The Blues, and Leeds United, have both been traced as the sources of a England international tickets being offered as part of unofficial corporate hospitality deals at above face value.

This contravenes FA rules as any ticket supplied to a club is the responsibility of the club involved even if it is sold on as it was here.

FA spokesperson Steve Double has said that the charge is at the lower end of the scale and is nothing like the Leicester City-Tottenham situation.

Only two tickets were involved which originated from Town with another ten originating at Elland Road. Both clubs have fourteen days to respond to the charges and are co-operating fully with the FA.

Both clubs have identified the individuals involved and are to act accordingly. David Sheepshanks said: "We know the identity of the person and appropriate action has been taken, I hope our fine reputation and record of good practice will be taken into account when this charge is heard."

Leeds have said that the Elland Road offender will not receive tickets in the future, action that is likely to be reciprocated by Town.
