Nicholls Scores in Debut

Former Town midfielder Ashley Nicholls scored the winner in his league debut for Darlington on Saturday. Nicholls, released by Town over the summer, netted a fine curling shot from the edge of the area in the 76th minute as the Quakers won 2-1 away at Cambridge.

Town loanee Steve Burton was not involved in Boston's inaugural league game against Bournemouth. Neil Thompson's side drew 2-2 with the Cherries who left former Town Academy player Alan Connell on their bench.

Gary Croft made his debut for Cardiff as they won 2-1 at Oldham, while David Johnson was in the Forest line-up which lost 2-0 at Portsmouth.

Titus Bramble was at Town's game against Walsall and missed brother Tesfaye opening his account for the season with a last minute equaliser for Southend as they drew 2-2 at Hull City.

Meanwhile former Town keeper Mike Salmon is set to make his Tonbridge Angels debut aginst Fleet Town in the Dr Martens Eastern Division next Saturday. Salmon left Town on a free transfer at the end of last season.
