North To Be Sponsored
North To Be Sponsored

Town have announced that they have been seeking to find a sponsor for the North Stand. The club also said that they are also considering sponsorship for the ground itself.

Chief executive Derek Bowden says that the club see stand sponsorship as another source of much needed cash: "The other three stands are sponsored [sic] and we now have this stand available which would raise added income for the club.

"It is a sensible commercial decision which would have been taken whatever division we were in.

"I can advise that we are already talking to a few interested parties. Some of those parties will be at the game tomorrow."

Currently Churchman's and the West Stand are sponsored by Greene King and the Britannia Building Society. Despite the sponsorships, many fans still refer to them by their old names and the same is likely to be the case if a commercial partner is found for the North.

Sponsorship of the new stand is likely to bring in a six-figure amount, however, the club say they could go down the road of stadium sponsorship which would bring in more cash.

Commercial manager Paul Clouting announced that the club were looking into the stadium being sponsored in April last year, although he said that at the time there were no immediate plans to do so: "We have no current plans to change the name of the ground. It has been discussed at board level and we would be prepared to discuss any name change if it was the right company at the right price.

"I want to do whatever is best for the club bearing in mind what our supporters think."

With the club looking at innumerable sources of cash ground sponsorship looks an increasingly likely prospect.
