QPR Watching Dozzell
Thursday, 25th Feb 2021 11:48

TWTD understands QPR have joined Blackburn Rovers in keeping tabs on Blues midfielder Andre Dozzell.

Earlier this month we reported that Rovers, who are managed by former Town skipper and coach Tony Mowbray, have been watching Dozzell for a number of months with his assistant and fellow former Blue Mark Venus having been due to attend the postponed game at Shrewsbury.

Now fellow Championship side QPR have joined Rovers is showing interest in the former England U20 international.

In December, Dozzell signed a new contract with the Blues, which runs until the summer of 2024 with the club having an option for a further season.

If I had a pound for the number of clubs over the last few years that were 'watching' or 'keeping tabs' on Dozzell...

Premier and Championship will watching lower league young players all the time!

Why would he want to play for a tin pot club like qpr, with 4 bus shelters for stands? !!!

Skip73 added 12:39 - Feb 25
Bryanplug, and cue Town accepting.

Skip73 added 12:45 - Feb 25
Shepton, you mean that tin pot Championship club who have had 3 seasons in the Prem in the past 10 seasons.

Mowbray and Venus
Now there's a thought

What we could do is get promoted and stave off all interest in our better players.

IpswichToon added 13:45 - Feb 25
Imagine Mowbray and Venus in charge of the 1st team, not forgetting Dyer and Butcher in charge of the U23's. My god there couldn't be a better advert for our club.

It would also fend off some of the poachers...

If an offer comes in from QPR or Blackburn during the summer & we are not promoted (!), chances are that the club will accept & Dozzell will go. Such is life.
It is worth recognising though, that despite all the calamity around the club in recent months, Lambert/Evans/whoever managed to get Andre to sign a new long term deal with the club in the middle of it all. I know there's bound to be some release clause in there, but still we are in a much better position with an important young asset than we would have been otherwise.

we need him, leave him alone plz xx

chepstowblue added 14:34 - Feb 25
Needs to up his performances enormously to be playing in the championship. When it comes to the crunch, not many sides at a higher level are seriously interested in our youngsters. This will probably blow over when they realise there are better midfielders at other league 1 clubs.

Skip73 added 14:40 - Feb 25
Wishful thinking on Mowbray and Venus, Mowbray turned us down once before, and we were in the Championship then. No chance he'd come here now we are a League lower.

Blue_Blood_ added 15:25 - Feb 25
Do you reckon to watch him, they're paying a tenner on ifollow!

Town4me added 17:20 - Feb 25
From a players point of view I wouldn't really see the point in joining either of those unless they were offing him something rediculous

therein61 added 17:39 - Feb 25
Surprised Big gob hasn't been in for 4&8 as they are premiership class!!!.

MonkeyAlan added 17:55 - Feb 25
Let him go. He ain't all that.

Linkboy13 added 10:20 - Feb 26
Never really has an impact on games and seems to lack maturity. Not up to the physical demands of the championship. If he wasn't a local lad whose dad played for the club he wouldn't be getting all the adulation .
