Tuesday, 6th Jun 2000 10:38

Town are looking to complete the deal which will make Martijn Reuser a Town player in the next few days. George Burley is said to be working tirelessly to sort out the deal with Vitesse Arnhem expected to be in the region of £1.2 million. Reuser has become a popular figure during his loan spell at Portman Road and fans will be glad to see the deal tied up.

David Holdsworth continues to be singled out as Town’s major target with an offer of £2.5 million thought to have been put in. Played down is the link with Belgian international Glenn De Boeck from Anderlecht.

Richard Wright was voted second in Sky TV’s Big Save awards. Given that the awards were given based on a popular vote and Manchester City’s Nicky Weaver was the player who beat him I doubt he’ll be losing too much sleep over it.

Richard Naylor is recovering at home from the operations to both knees and is targeting the first game of the season for is return. He also says he is very much looking forward to taking on home-town club Leeds at Elland Road.

The pre-season friendly with Colchester United which had seemed in jeopardy has been confirmed for Friday July 28th at Layer Road.

Matt Holland is likely to start for Ireland in their game with the USA. Manager Mick McCarthy has also said that Holland can expect to be involved in Ireland’s World Cup qualifiers.

Portman Road is reporting a massive demand for season tickets with almost 4,000 written applications already received. Current season ticket holders will have priority with renewals beginning on June 12th. With the club limiting the number of season tickets to 16,000 it seems many will be disappointed and have a lot of queues throughout the season.

The video of the play-off wins will be available from tomorrow via the club.

Town will have three mascots per game next season. These will be drawn at random from members of the Blues Crew.
