![]() Thursday, 15th Jun 2000 15:04 Manager George Burley has moved swiftly to dismiss the reports that Town are to triple Richard Wright's wages to get him to stay at Portman Road. The Town manager said: "That’s a load of nonsense. What I will say is that we have made Richard a fantastic offer. It falls within our pay structure and it is only because we are now a Premiership club that we are able to make him such a tremendous offer. "We are still hopeful he will sign. It’s not fair to push it at the moment, because he is away with England and he should be concentrating on that, but we will want an answer when he returns." If he doesn't sign Wright may find himself consigned to the reserves until a buyer appears, although this looks a very remote possibility given the effect it would have on his value. Keith Branagan, who last week agreed a two-year contract with Town, would almost certainly be handed the number one jersey.
