Eight Changes For Blues at Barrow
Wednesday, 15th Dec 2021 19:10

Town interim manager John McGreal has made eight changes to the Blues side facing Barrow away in this evening’s FA Cup second-round replay with only Christian Walton, Kane Vincent-Young and Cameron Burgess remaining from Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Wigan.

Walton continues in goal behind a back four of, from the right, Vincent-Young, Toto Nsiala, Burgess and Matt Penney.

In midfield, Idris El Mizouni and Tom Carroll are in the centre with Scott Fraser on the left and Sone Aluko, who skippers, on the right. Up front, James Norwood starts alongside Kayden Jackson.

Among those on the bench are captain Sam Morsy, Conor Chaplin and Janoi Donacien, while Ben Morris is included in the first-team squad for the first time since the Coventry game in March 2020, the final match before that season was suspended due to the pandemic.

Young midfielder Cameron Humphreys was due to be in the squad but was left out as his room-mate has Covid.

Barrow make two changes with Josh Gordon and Matt Platt coming into the team for Ozzy Zanzala and Mark Ellis.

Barrow: Farman, Brown, Brough, Platt, Gordon, White, J Jones, Gotts, Grayson, Banks (c), Stevens. Subs: Lillis, Taylor, Ellis, M Jones, Zanzala, Kay, Beadling, Hutton, James.

Town: Walton, Vincent-Young, Nsiala, Burgess, Penney, Aluko (c), El Mizouni, Carroll, Fraser, Jackson, Norwood. Subs: Hladky, Donacien, Woolfenden, Kenlock, Morsy, Chaplin, Morris, Pigott. Referee: James Bell (Sheffield).

Perhaps the shortlist for manager has now got even shorter. Every manager ruling themselves out.

Any thought of McGreal must surely be over. Harris … wow. What a mess.

Well, something is clearly very wrong with that squad.
Bring on the subs "Passion", "Commitment", "Determination", "Cohesion" and "Belief".

Only we could lose to a team that can't score! This has to be the worst time in the clubs history. Who do we blame tho?

This could be controversial but I'm going to call that half of football as the worst in our history. Shambolic, gutless etc.
I am not expecting Butcher to hold back!

It's pretty clear that most of this lot want to follow Cook of Suffolk... no skin off their nose and they keep picking up their wages... like to see them all donate their weeks salary to the staff at Ipswich hospital...

Doesnt matter what formation we played. Tactically inept decisions from the start combined with poor performances. Two up front yet we dont turn the oppostion or feed them to feet. Play incredibly narrow and have no wide outlet. Need to win the battle first but start with Aluko (luxury wide player not playing wide or receiving ball) and Carroll (lightweight). Carroll only passing sideways and backwards often putting our back line under pressure. Toto giving the ball away every single time.

Equals humiliation on tv

Whatever manager comes in has one hell of a job on his hands.

These ‘players' are not even up to league 2 standard.

So embarrassing being a Town fan. How much longer must we suffer like this? I hope John McGreal is giving them hell in the dressing room.

Absolute shambles we've been poor to say the least we look like the team struggling in league two. People moaned about cook and got him out when we hit the post 3 times at home and should've been out of sight against this lot same people who wanted cook out were talking about giving it to mcgreal. Mcgreal has made three different formations in three games. Yeah the last month hasn't been brilliant but we were top scorers in league one he had three months with a new team which wasn't enough we're more of a shambles since he's left trust me and the problem is it's making me as a fan now want someone like warnock in due to desperation!

I'm embarrassed. This lot have NO excuse for this. They are completely clueless. Have lost all work ethic. Nsiala has hit usual mid season wobbles. Penney is outplayed. Whole of midfield cannot pass. All slower than my gran. Being led by no one. Couldn't believe they could get worse, how wrong was I… F in joke all f in round. Players honestly don't care

You could sort of understand Cook's departure, given how things were going. The trouble is, half the squad, and most of the more 'senior' players came here, as they openly said, to play for Cook. I was encouraged on Saturday, and the obvious thing to do tonight was to play the same team, get them fired up and stuff the team from League 2. The Christmas schedule is no doubt on McGreal's mind, but it looks this was a huge misjudgement tonight. This squad needs some seriously good man management. Who is going to do that??
