Pigott Nets Twice For Pompey
Wednesday, 20th Jul 2022 12:40

On-loan Blues striker Joe Pigott got his spell at Portsmouth off to a goalscoring start, netting twice in last night’s 5-2 friendly victory at Leyton Orient.

Pigott, 28, who moved to Pompey on loan for the season at the end of last week, scored in the 18th and 74th minutes of his first appearance for the Hampshire side.

“He's a good player isn't he? He's got really good link and combination skills,” manager Danny Cowley said afterwards.

“If you play into him he's so soft with his first touch and he just has this lovely way that he caresses the ball, and he's a really good finisher.”

Blue7853.... spot on! how many people who post on here try to find out any information before they dive into their keyboard, not many i suspect! He has had one team which has worked for him, wimbledon, the rest of his career has been less than average.

2 goals in a friendly against league 2 and people are using the the story against the club and the poor decisions being made, bit pathetic really.

Look at McCauley Bonne, great first half of the season extremely poor second! So lets wait and see Piggots goals tally at the end of the season before we say it was a mistake!

His 3 goals for Ipswich were against poor opponents. If given time on the ball he can look good like a lot of strikers. When playing for bigger clubs like Ipswich and too a lesser extent Portsmouth teams tend to raise their game.

Wasn't played enough, so called fans got on his back straight away after not playing for 5 or more games then expecting to see him score hatefuls of goals ,so a move was the right choice and paying dividends for him wish him and Norwood the best.
