Town manager Joe Royle appears to be less keen to bring in a new striker after Sunday's fine win at Watford. Royle had spent the previous week or so looking for a loan attacker.

The Town manager said: "I don't know about a new man up front now. This win, and the two goals, may set the front men off now."

Just over a week ago talks with Ashley Ward broke down while we understand Sunderland turned down Town's approach for former striker Marcus Stewart.

The ex-Town man only joined Sunderland at the beginning of the season, but has hardly been in the picture under new manager Howard Wilkinson with rumours suggesting the two are not getting on.
