![]() Saturday, 23rd Nov 2002 10:24 Town skipper Matt Holland faced a nightmare trip back from Ireland's friendly with Greece in Athens. Holland and his team-mates spent 13 hours returning after a game he says was pretty meaningless. The Town skipper said after his epic journey: "It was a game we could have done without. Many of us had played in the UEFA Cup last week and so were involved in club matches on Sunday. "The journey out there didn't help, a four-hour flight, then two hours on a coach and then training. "Coming back was even worse — I was up at 3.45am and didn't get into my house until 5pm [on Thursday], you could say I was a little tired. "The worst thing is we didn't even get anything out of it. It wasn't like there was a new manager looking at players or anything." Also involved in the game were Coventry's Barry Quinn and promising loanee Richie Partridge.
