McKenna: Good to See El Mizouni Getting Games and Thriving
Friday, 18th Nov 2022 11:04

Blues Boss Kieran McKenna is pleased to see midfielder Idris El Mizouni playing regularly in central midfield and excelling during his loan spell at Leyton Orient.

The Tunisia international has become a popular figure at Brisbane Road with the O's, who are managed by one-time Blues loanee Richie Wellens, top of League Two by three points.

The 22-year-old has made 14 starts and four sub appearances, scoring once.

“It’s been good to see,” McKenna said. “It was really important for him to get those games, he’s had a couple of seasons of not playing too many games, I don’t think any of his loan moves had worked out quite as he wanted for different reasons.

“And it was really important at this stage of his career that he got a proper run of games in centre midfield and it’s good to see that he’s done that and he’s thriving in it.”

El Mizouni is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2024 with the club having an option for a further season.

Great to see the lad doing well at Orient but he's going have to play out of his skin to force him self into the first team squad especially if we get promoted to the championship. The problem is when you go up the leagues players are fitter, stronger, and faster and im not too sure if he's up to it but i hope im wrong because technically he's good.

I always get the feeling people who say ‘I hope I'm wrong' actually don't hope they're wrong.

Perhaps a January recall to cover Ball and Evans injuries?
